Reflect on what you are grateful for with regards to the externship. What people have been helpful and supportive? Who would you like to thank? What experiences have been really valuable? What about the 4 weeks are appreciative for? There are many experiences that I am thankful for throughout this externship experience but I'd like to start by thanking Michal Lynn. Michal Lynn even before this externship has been a great supporter. She has helped me throughout this year with getting my grades to be better, brought me in to help with athletics, and most of all helped me grow as a person this year. I just want to thank her for everything she has helped me with thoughout externship, and putting up with me because most of the time I ask too many questions but she had the patience and really helped me get through it. Some of the other people that have helped me throughout externship are my fellow externs Marlene, Hilary, and Clarisa. We really worked together to help ML with organization and really helping her out with getting ready for the upcoming school year and some stuff for the current year such as the Spring Sports Banquet. I also want to thank Corey and Larry who's vineyard we went to a couple days during externship because it was honestly a cool experience seeing their house and taking a look at their vineyard and how everything works. Lastly, I'd like to thank Fran because she really supported me throughout externship to get my school grades up and really worked over and over with me on Math so I could pass my test. :)

How has this experience (the externship) made you consider your college or career path? In other words: Is your experience something you would like to continue exploring or has this experience turned you off from pursuing this field of study or career path..?I think that this externship has really opened my eyes to how much work an Athletic Director actually does. To be honest if I had to do all ths stuff by myself, including starting a new athletic program, I would really struggle and have problems. Although a lot of the stuff that she does isn't super hard, there are still things that are tough, but most of all, it's time consuming. So in the future, I think that being an Athletic Director is a possibility, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice of job. Something I think that is cool about being an Athletic Director is your relationship with the students. You get to know each and every athlete, especially at a school like ours because their aren't that many kids, you can build a relationship with each and every one of them.
Describe how a specific skill you acquired in high school was valuable in your externship. How did you learn that skill? How were you able to use it? Or perhaps was there is a skill you needed but didn't have. How did you deal with that? |

Describe your project or internship. What are you excited about? Nervous about?
For my externship, I am working with the current Athletic Director of High Tech, Coach OKelley. What I expect to be doing most of the time is help her with organizing everything, including schedules, the spring sports banquet, and possibly the opening of the new HTH Mesa school. One thing I'm most excited about it getting to experience what Coach does on an everyday basis, I feel like there is a lot of background work with preparing sports events and scheduling and it could be cool to learn exactly how she prepares for those things. I'm not too nervous going into externship because I will have my classmates Marlene, Hilary, and Clarisa if I have any other questions, and or need any help.
